This is a well-recieved offering from Ducati called the Monster 1000. It was made between 2003 and 2005.
It has a dual-spark motor and air-cooled V-twin. It also bears that trellis frame Ducati is known for.
This ones a custom. Does that make it a streetfighting monster? Or a roadster-fighter?
It’s touted for its handling on A-roads. Reveiwers have noted the Ducati Monster 1000’s loping page.
It runs reputed Brembo brakes and a strong chassis.
The engine: the downside of this punchy 1000 is it requires cam belt changes every 12,000 miles or every 2 years. That can be expensive, but under $1,000 each time.
The bike has been compared to other roadster motorbikes. It underwhelms compared to the more expensive Ducati 996/998 and S4R Monster, as well as the Kawasaki Z1000 as far as power and speed. But the quality IS there on the Ducati.
The Monster 1000 also has span-adjustable levers and an ignition-based immobilizer standard, so it can be customized, which is just what happened here in this streetfighter version of the perhaps modern classic.
