The one in the photo above has been added to a Laredo (by Keystone) model trailer.

These types of thin kitchen slide outs — also called “outside kitchens” — seem to be a relatively new thing in RVing. They’ve been showing up on toyhaulers, but I have yet to see a trailer manufacturer that is pushing them as part of one of their models.

Some day, perhaps the body of an RV or semi sleeper might be just a chest of drawers of compartments that can slide out on in, allowing for various functionality, maximizing vehicle space.

I’ve also seen smaller outside kitchens in Elkridge and other fifth wheel makers, but those ones are more just horizontal outside compartments filled with kitchen gear, rather than the narrow, dedicated slide out you see in the image above.

What do you think of these things? Good idea? Looks good but might have drawbacks? Also, I’m pretty interested in what the owner-operator truck drivers out there think about possibly putting these in their sleeper units?

A New Newell – With a 600 Horse Cummins!

What do you guys think of this new motorhome? It’s a new Newell. Not sure if you all want to know the price of this luxury motor coach diesel pusher. Luckily, not all motorhomes cost as much as this one! We can get ones that do everything we need for a lot less.

However, while we’re looking at this luxury motor coach, we may as well notice its 4 slide outs.

It also has a 600 horsepower new Cummins diesel engine. And a 6 speed Alison transmission.

The company is Newell — or “Newell Coach”. Obviously, we’ve featured Newell motorhomes before here on this site. And people speak nicely about them. They’re sitting up there at the top of the line for luxury and custom motor homes.

I won’t list every little feature about what this company does with its motorhomes. I set out to do that a couple of times, but when you go through their brochures you soon realize that every part of their coaches has some special technology or special luxury amenity. Custom Big Rig Interiors

We often feature the exteriors of custom semi trucks, but for some people, a custom interior is just as important, and for customizers, too, whether semi tractors, motorhomes, or other luxury RVs, the interior can be just as important or even more so than the outside. After all, it is where owner-operator or driver spends the most time.

So whether customized for a modern look or a classic look, shine and sparkle or matte and natural materials, we’ve seleted four top custom interiors that have gotten a fair amount of attention over the past couple of years. Which of these custom interiors is closest to what you would want? What would you change?

#1 is JR Schleuger’s Kenworth. One of the notable things about this custom semi truck is the whole thing is made out of American parts — on purpose — including the custom interior. Schleuger did this to support his countrymen, to take a stand for American products and industry in a time when other countries are on the rise due to cheaper labor, and to make a point.

The truck is a 2003 Kenworth W900L. Schleuger drivse it for IMT Transport out of Garner, Iowa.

#2 is a Heavy Haulage Australia Wester Star working truck. Clean looking interior, wouldn’t you say? It was photographed by Dingos.

#3 is Anthony Fischkelta’s Project 351, of Moonachie, N.J. who built this custom semi to outdo his friend with his own custom rig. It’s a 2009 W900 Kenworth.

#4 is Ryan Derrickson’s 1993 Peterbilt 379 extended hood flat top (63” flat top), which he’s the owner-operator of out in Wisconsin. As you can see from the picture (and the rest of the custom truck has the same theme, its a truck customized based on an old-school airliner theme. You can see the name given by Derrickson on the inside of the door there is also airline themed.

   

This Big Luxury Motorhome Comes with a Car Inside It

Opinion poll: What does everyone think of these big toterhome / tiny car combo units?

I’ve been seeing these big toterhome RVs with garages that have great garage floor epoxy where the owners put small driving cars (inside the motorhome!) quite a bit. I don’t know how old this trend is, but I haven’t seen any photos of it from before around 10 years ago.

When you have a big luxury motorhome, you may not want to burn gas going to the 7-11 for a bag of chips, so it might make sense to add a towncar to your RV set up. I’ve seen it done on motorhomes like the one above and with 5th wheel trailer toy haulers, too.

The photo above is a 2008 United Specialties 45′ Garage Hauler Freightliner Columbia cab with a matching little smart car.

It has 35 feet of living space and a 10 foot garage, and its powered by a 515 Detroit 60 Series with Meritor 12 speed automatic transmission.

From the photo above, you can see the custom paint, which is Sikkens “Deep Black” (with a paint code of Q140). It’s known as being the most black of black auto paints, by the way. This Is The Biggest Toy Hauler I’ve Ever Seen

Wow. Take a look at that luxury fifth wheel trailer up there. I always thought this picture was shopped until now.

Just found out more about this fifth wheel! It’s not photoshopped. It’s one of two very large 5th wheel toy haulers Weekend Warrior built that were this big. Toterhome toy hauler luxury.

Many people out there use fifth wheel trailers, and there’s lots of interest in the RV community in big ones with lots of features and amenities, but what is the limit?

The owner of one of the toy haulers was the owner of the company, and CEO, from what I have read. I mean the owner-and-CEO of Weekend Warrior fifth wheels (and I think they do motor homes as well).

For the owner I guess it makes sense to have such a big toterhome trailer — a bit of marketing probably doesn’t hurt.

Take a look at some of the notable features of this fifth wheel trailer: the number of tires, for starters. Those look like dualies, too. Then there’s the graphics, which go over the windows as well. And you can see two AC units in that photo. And a slide out patio.

So my question for you guys is how big a truck would you want to feel comfortable towing a fifth wheel like this? Also, I know this is an old trailer build and I’ve really

World’s Largest Trailer

 

This is the largest two-wheel trailer in the world, according to Guinness. Take a look at the style of the this RV trailer, and see if you can guess who owns it, or even which country it’s from.

Did you guess? This giant RV belongs to a world-famous vehicle collector known as the Rainbow Shiek, who’s from UAE. The way this trailer is written up in the Guinness Book, it’s the largest caravan.

The trailer is a 1993 make. Obviously its a custom RV. You haven’t seen any motor vehicle plants trying to market anything this big lately, have you?

The length? 20 meters. Width: 12 meters.

It’s 12 meters tall as well.

That’s over 65 feet long and almost 40 feet wide and tall.

The interior of this RV trailer has 8 bedrooms and bathrooms and four garages, which can hold more vehicles. We’ve featured large RVs — even big toterhomes and trailers — on here that sleep a lot of people, even up to 20, but none of them have eight bedrooms in them.

I don’t know if the inside is private or what, but it seems there are only exterior photos of this giant RV.

Giant Red Toy Hauler

This big red toy hauler trailer caught our attention recently, just for its looks, but it also has a bunch of features that might be worth taking a look at. It’s a 2014 “Work and Play” WPF 38 RLS by Forest River.

This fifth wheel trailer is designed to sleep up to 8 people (including a queen sized master bedroom), and it also includes a full bath and kitchen. It’s also pre-wired for a generator.

Of course, this isn’t just an RV for sleeping and eating in. It’s a toy hauler, so it’s built to enable RVers to pack their ATVs, bikes and other equipment into it and take it on a trip.

That’s where the “Work and Play” line of toy haulers comes in for Forest River. They’re trailers, but they’ve been modified so that they can carry toys rather than cargo, while still having RVing comforts.

The toy hauler section is in the back. In the rear of the trailer, there is a 10 by 10 cargo door, which is also a ramp, so you can load large wheeled vehicles without difficulty.

When it came up, they were asking $50,000 for these toy haulers.

The 200″ Sleeper, Longest Factory-Made Tractor at Work

This giant semi with its giant sleeper and, it seems, just the way he put the whole thing together, has become a bit of a star on this little website. Here’s another picture of this giant semi sleeper unit, and some more information about the truck from all the people who’ve commented on it.

We’ve already written about the size of this custom tractor’s sleeper — 205 inches (click here). And we’ve written about how the truck itself is the longest factory-made tractor (385 wheel base) (click here), and posted a couple of photos of the interior thanks to Bill N’Kristy Thompson, which was something a lot of people were wanting to see.

So far the biggest issue people have raised with it is logistics — how to get this truck into small lots, how to get enough weight on it to make enough money — while a lot of people have been in favor of the comfort it must provide. Even though a lot of other owner-operators and drivers who’ve driven these have commented and let us know they’re actually not that hard to drive, except in the smallest lots, and they’re not that heavy either, we’ve seen a number of photos of this truck doing what it does to make money — hauling expensive equipment like airplane parts.

Actually, of the big sleeper semis we’ve done write ups for on here, a lot of them seem to be driven by owner-operator who haul this type of cargo.

Of the questions people have that remain about this truck (maybe you guys can fill these parts in): What year is the tractor? What company did the sleeper? What kind of engine is in it? There was a fair amount of debate about whether it was a Cat or a Cummins diesel. So if you guys could fill in these details, I think we could answer just about everything people want to know about this truck here.

For those of you who don’t know, by the way, this is the truck that used to belong to Tony Bennet and his wife, and he drove it for Southern Pride. I haven’t seen a name attached to the truck yet, but truckers seem to refer to it occasionally as “Yellow Submarine.”
