How They Build Custom Motorhomes

One of the most interesting reads for anyone who likes RVs or big trucks. This is how they do it.

This information is thanks to a company out in Australia, in New South Wales, which is doing a pretty good job of letting us understand their company philosophy, goals and process. They’re called Majestic Motorhomes. Anybody out in Australia and interested in custom / luxury RVs or conversions should check them out, I think. Motorhome fabrication has come a long way, for instance 50 years ago a man by the name of Bob Barth started hand-crafting RV motorhomes for people and eventually made a business from it, check out old barth motorhome examples for a blast to the past!

So they showed us how to they go about doing it. First of all, they don’t just do one type of custom RV. They do these big motor coaches, but also trailers, converted vans and trucks, and probably they can do whatever else you’re thinking of as far as outfitting a vehilce to be a recreational vehilcle.

In this example, they covered all the bases, so we’ll use it to understand. They start out with the future-motorhome’s chassis, which can be a coach, light truck, rigid truck, or trailer.

Then they set about fabricating the strong steel frame needed to keep the motorhome strong and durable. They fabricate the whole thing at their building. They draw up blueprints based on the customer’s needs and then weld together a steel frame out of stell tubing.

Next, they clad the outside of the RV and fill in the interior. Some have simple bunks and others have luxury interior finishings.

The photos give the best idea. I recommend that even if you’re on a mobile right now, you bookmark this site and then look at these photos on your desktop computer to see the whole process in detail. The photos are the best description of how this custom motorhome company builds their RVs. Visit Majestic Motorhome if you’re over in Australia (click here). It’s a really big photo so it might take a half minute to load.
