Luxury Motor Home

This giant luxury motor home we spotted on NRC Mod, a motor home, toterhome, and RV modifications company in Middlebury, Indiana. They deal in mostly high-end luxury coaches, but also mobile offices and other designs.

This particular motor home is a 2007 Freightliner Coronado chassis.

It’s a 45-footer, and is built to sleep 4 people. There’s 1 bathroom in addition to the living and cooking area and the bedroom.

Big Blue Custom RV

This big luxury custom RV is a custom job done by owner Bruce Rayner and his company. The big sleeper on it was made for the adventures or Rayner and his wife, who call the unit “Big Blue.”

The luxury camping mobile is a conversion from a freightliner. This truck was featured a few years back on Destination America channel’s “Epic RVs,” where they had a bunch of big custom RVs, some of them converted semi tractors.

Mr Rayner thought up this long-distance luxury camper, and it has a few features built to suit him. Unfortunately, the couple, who have shared some of their photos, haven’t shown us what the inside looks like, but we have seen the photos of the little blue MG that drives up into a short-height garage door on the back of the motorhome. The door lifts up, and in it goes. This must be OK for driving around Nevada, where they’re from. If you’ve seen this vehicle around there, send us a photo of it. Rayner is a Chamber member there as well.

I haven’t seen the Epic RVs episode with this luxury motorhome in it yet, but apparently it was filmed in Squaw Valley in May. That’s some scenery there. Since we can’t show you the interior, here are a couple more photos of Big Blue.

DIY Custom Motorhome … They Did It Themselves

It is not often that the large truck conversions we find and write about here are common auto manufacturers like GMC, but this one is. The owners, Andy and Donna Bott — a husband and wife team — call this custom conversion RV “Going Banana.”

They said that someone told them they thought it looked like a big banana.

The chassis basis is a 1987 GMC General truck. The couple wanted a custom-built RV when they started RVing (after 12 years with 2 conventional trailers).

They built this truck themselves.

The frame took around 1 and 1/2 years, according to Andy, who was interviewed about it a couple of years ago on RV Travel. “We repositioned the wheels back and stretched the frame. Then we got some sheet metal, built the ribs, and added insulation and paneling.”

The inside was partly designed by a friend of theirs who does interior decoration.

The interior (sorry, no photos provided of this) has quality woodwork and a lot of luxury RV interior amenities.

The travel weight of this custom built motor home is 39,000 pounds, and the gross is 80,000.

This Custom Tractor Goes Beyond the Studio Sleeper!

Beyond custom sleeper, this man has built a custom camper on his tractor. This is Tim Lugwig’s 1985 Peterbilt 359 short hood, that’s had some custom work done to it. You won’t see too many even close to looking like this beyond-seme sleeper.

The tractor initially had ICT legacy sleepers built him a custom 154-inch sleeper, and he set that up already like a camper. But then in the year 2000, Tim stretched the cab 12 inches (for leg room), and the whole unit got re-customized in 2003.

This custom tractor RV has inside:

-bunk
-2 captains chairs
-small table
-twin bed
-sink
-microwave
-refrigerator
-TV/VCR
-lots of cabinets

It’s powered by a Caterpillar 3406B engine.

Some of the custom work includes: re-skinned roof and doors, shaved marker lights and door handles (the doors are remote-activated now), painted air cleaners, grill screen, hood vents like a 1950s style Buick, huck bolting, 8-inch stacks. The latest part of the customization included body work by Kansas City Peterbilt and murals by Envisions Design.

Some other interesting features: it has a real door.” The inside of the custom legacy sleeper has a bunch of police memorabilia to match the outside, and the windows have bars similar to those found in some jails.

Luxury Motor Home

This big Coronado motor home conversion caught our eye when it came up for sale a while ago. It’s got a lot of power, and has a lot of the features that are sought in a custom luxury motorhome when the owners want to accommodate a couple as they toterhome around the country — or whatever they want to do with their rig.

Inside, the motor coach has a central vac, accent lighting throughout most of the coach, leather couch (don’t worry, the research has been done for taking care of your leather furniture), large kitchen area, all wood cabinets, 2 A/C units (one for the living area and one for the kitchen), ice maker on the fridge (double door), freezer, lots of cabinet space, microwave / convection oven, 3-burner stovetop, dining table with leather seats.

In the back of the unit, a pantry, a stairway to the bathroom, with marble countertop, all wood cabinets, oversize RV toilet, oversize shower, dual-head shower, upgraded faucet, strong water pressure and if the water pressure fails, you can find out how to increase your home water pressure. Traveling in luxury motor homes like this one and using the same types of bathroom appliances that you would find anywhere else could create some damage that will need to get looked at by a professional. This is so you can continue on your adventure without having to worry about any other potential problems. That is why you may need to look for someone similar to these Penrith plumbers that are on time so that you won’t need to wait too long for them to visit and you can swiftly get back on track with your journey.

Further into the back, there’s a large bedroom which is a slide out, and has lots of cabinet space, lots of mirrors, a flat-screen television, lots of cabinets against the wall that light up when you open them. The bedroom has an AC unit as well, and a heater.

There’s also a trap door in the floor of the hallway that goes down into the garage.

UPDATE: this unit has reportedly sold. It was not listed with an asking price, but the sellers mentioned that it had had a $40,000 electronics update and a paint job I’m almost shy to tell you the price of ($25,000). They said the unit to build now would cost $700,000.

Custom Pete

Look at the flames on this custom Peterbilt — pretty, purple, and Pete. This photo was shared by a Mrs. Eileen Lewis. Apparently, she was recently married and they used this truck in the wedding, and she wanted people to see it so she uploaded it to the Overdrive Magazine semi trucks photos section.

Already, this custom semi has got a lot of attention, probably not least because there isn’t anything else on it on the internet. It belongs to Ray Flemming, so, Mr. Ray Flemming, if you’re out there and you catch wind of this, send us a couple more photos for everybody to enjoy and hopefully a few words on your custom semi.

Aussie Kenworth Custom Sleeper

Bright, with bold white zig-zagging stripes on the side and a decent sleeper, this is one of Australia’s custom semi tractors. It was shared in Overdrive Magazine’s Reader Rigs gallery, and it’s a standout rig, so we’re passing it on even further. Hopefully the owner will get in touch with us and tell us more about it, so we can update this write up about his 1998 Kenworth T900.

Since we don’t have much else to write about this one, I’m going to put a couple other Australian Kenworths, and you can get an idea of how they do their customs in the land down under. Which do you like best? They’re all T900s. However, there’s a bit of a secret to one of them. Will anybody be able to guess it?

The red one at the top? The navy blue one with a ton of chrome appendages? The light yellow one with the bumper tilted out?
