This 80s Freightliner cabover was posted up to Overdrive Online ealier this year. Not much is known about it, as it was just a user-submitted photo, not a feature, but it looked nice and I though you might all like to see it, as well as it being just a pretty good photo shot of a truck in its natural surroundings. Where is this? Can you guess?
This cabover belongs to one Robert Carr. It’s got a 400 horsepower Cummins engine inside it, and Carr says that he “totally redid” the COE since it’s original stock configuration.
Carr said he cared about this Freightliner “like his kids.”

Custom Semi Truck
This custom semi truck — and this truck really is around the furthest limits I’ve so far seen when it comes to customizing — look at this semi tractor. Every part of it has customization except maybe the tires. Even the stacks have stripes to suit the overall theme. And it is a harmonized custom theme. Look how all the elements go well together.
This custom semi tractor belongs to Jerad Wittwer, and it was originally dug up and covered by PDI Diesel’s blogger. Wittwer is the owner of PDI out in Utah (St. George, Utah).
It was intended to as best as possible in customization represent the PDI company. They set out in 2012 to get it ready for the Mid America Trucking Show.
The base of this truck is a 2002 Peterbilt 379. It had a 312 wheelbase, which after it was worked on turned into a 285 inch.
It has a 36 inch sleeper unit on it with custom walls.
The interior has more custom details than I can explain, but it also has some custom luxury trucker interior features like a good stereo system, 2 20 inch TVs, DVDs.
The truck was custom built with up to 10 or 11 guys working on it in the PDI shop at a time, 12 to 14 hours per day — there are over 6,000 work hours behind this customization.

Custom Sleeper Semi
What do you think of this giant big sleeper unit, custom and polished? It’s a W9 custom semi that showed at a previous Mid America Trucking Show. This post is actually in part a reminder about the big show — it’s the biggest one in the world. Is anyone going? If there are any amateur photographers / video-ographers out there who are going, let us know. We could use some photos and we’d work something out with you.
The show is in Kentucky — Louisville — at the Kentucky Exposition Center. It gets crowds of 70,000 people. It has 1,000 exhibitors from all over the United States. It’s happening in 3 months, in March. The end of March and beginning of April.
For anyone thinking about going to this giant annual heavy-duty trucking industry event, admittance is $10. But if you “register” before February 29, you get free admission (link at bottom to do so).
SHOW HOURS

1 pm – 6 pm
April 1

There are some common problems associated with Cabover (COE) style trucks. Some of these lead to high insurance claims, such as the problem of getting INTO THE CAB.
Freightliner has addressed this problem. When you pull the door open with the handle, the staircase electronically rotates out to meet your ready-to-climb feet. A “swing-out staircase” that opens 26 degrees and can hold 205 kilograms (tested at over 300 though). It doesn’t open at high grades and only while the parking break is on — not while the truck is moving.
You can open the door without it opening. There’s a disarming button beside the door. There’s also an override switch INSIDE the cab.
It also won’t open if someone is in the way (like a child). It also won’t close on someone.
You kind of enter from behind, so it actually looks pretty easy to enter the cab with luggage.
This Argosy pictured though has a huge extended cab. How comfortable would that be? Considering how strong these aluminum-frame units are, how stable and smooth that large interior would be.

This big yellow luxury motorhome is another one being offered by Five-R Trailer, which also has the big blue RV we did a write up for here (click here to read it).
This one is also a Silver Crown model. It’s based on a Kenworth T-2000 as well, and is a 45 foot long motorhome towing a 26 foot stacker trailer.
The truck itself is a 2008 model, and in its current condition it’s “slightly used” with 20,000 miles on it.
Some mechanical specs: 475 horsepower with its Cat engine, and 1,750 feet pounds of torque. It has a 10-speed gearbox by Eaton. It has a 40,000 pound towing capacity.
The body: it’s 45 feet long, as I mentioned, and it has three RV slide units.
The interior of this luxury motorhome looks like it might be fairly done up, but it’s a little hard to tell by the photos, as compared with the high-quality photos made available for the other (blue) motorhome.
However, the specs for the motorhome’s interior stacks up:
Cabinets made of walnut, heated floors with granite surface, countertops also granite, substantial entertainment system with 3 TVs and a stereo system. Kitchen with touch-controlled electric cook top, refrigerator, stainless steel sinks, water filtration.
It has a bunch of other features as well, which are more the kind an actual buyer would want to take a look at, not someone who’s just interested in the truck itself, which can be found on the page.

This big RV with its luxury interior is one of the motorhomes being offered by Five-R Trailer, that company that specializes in “muscle coaches and trailers.” This is a Silver Crown Motor Home in the picture. It’s an 08, and it’s based on a Kenworth chassis.
And it has, for mechanical details, a Cat 475 engine and a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The Kenworth chassis, as you might have guessed looking at the photo of the exterior above, is a T-2000.
But what a lot of people might notice is the luxury RV interior here. Even though it’s an 08, it looks a lot like the brand new ones from the photos.
It’s 45 feet long, and has three slide units.
Luxury RV Interior Specs:
3 TVs and a powerful sound system, multiplexed lighting, motorized window shades, thermo pane windows, a diesel heating system, heated holding tanks compartments, a 12.5 generator, hydraulic leveling, keyless entry doors.
And for the luxury furnishings: the cabinetry is all wood — walnut — and the counters are granite. The floors are also granite, but tiles. The bathroom as well is tiled, with marble.
It has a big fridge, a dishwasher, electric cook top, stainless steel sinks.
The asking price of this big luxury RV wasn’t listed, but they take calls, of course.
