Best Superfoods for Weight Loss
It’s no secret that bananas are healthy. They’re also one of the more inexpensive fruit in North American produce sections. They’re also easy to fit into our meals, since they can go with so many other foods. They also have sugar, though, so don’t eat many of them.
Here’s some other weight loss foods:
Oranges, which have sugar, so you have to use the sugar up or it will turn to fat. But, they have low calories and they have fiber to regulate your blood sugar levels. Eat in moderation if weight loss is your goal.
Oats, fiber boosts metabolism. You’ll feel fuller longer. They also have antioxidants and other minerals that will help with health.
Spices, which help make food tasty and interesting while keeping your meals healthy. Ie, you don’t need as much sugar and salt and other unhealthy flavor-adders.
Sweet potatoes, which have fewer calories than regular potatoes, and less calories so you can stay satisfied.
Apples, which reduce cravings for sweet things. They’re low in salt, fat and calories, and have fiber, which helps you feel full.
Some other foods to eat for weight loss: nuts, quinoa, beans, egg whites, grapefruit, chicken breast, pears, pine nuts, mushrooms, lentils, hot peppers, broccoli, organic lean meats, cantaloupe, spinach, green tea, avocado, asparagus, salmon, peanut butter, organic raw apple cider vinegar, olive oil, Greek yogurt, turkey breast, blueberries, and flax seeds.
Why Certain Noises Drive Some People Totally Nuts
Do you have misophonia — the hatred of sound?
This isn’t where you hate all sounds, but this is the name of the condition where people get irritated (very) by certain noises. They can get enraged or disgusted by the noises.
Here’s a list of some of the common ones, listed by the Times, who did a poll on the most “cringe-worthy” noises: Soup-slurping, gum-chewing, nose-sniffling, nail-clipping, knuckle-cracking.
So if you’re doing any of these in public, people, know that you could be causing people around your very serious emotional and nervous stress. You could ruin their morning or their day. And anyway, those things are things that are rude to do in public.
The condition — why the noises are so annoying to mysophonia sufferers — isn’t fully understood. Research so far has pointed towards hyper-connectivity between the limbic system (part of brain that deals with emotions) and the auditory system).
Some of the other annoying noises include lip-smacking, pen clicking, and nose activity.
Some people are really seriously effected by this. They feel significant negative responses like wanting to escape the event, asking people to stop, feeling on edge until it stops.
But at the top level of the condition, people respond to the trigger sounds with violence. They’ve physically attacked people for it. Other have caused themselves significant degrees of harm.
Scientists discover whats killing the bees and its worse than you thought
Honey, one of the healthiest foods in our diet — an not just in our diet, it’s used topically as well. And honey is also valued in our diet for non-health reasons: like its delicious and can be used to sweeten just about anything. How many of you use honey in your coffee or tea instead of sugar?
In the US, honey is worth around $30 billion per year.
A new study has pointed to some of the most probable reasons for the “Colony Collapse Disorder” (CCD) that has wiped out 10 million beehives and 2 billion dollars over the past several years.
The scientists identified a mix of pesticides and fungicides that contaminate pollen, which is used to feed bee hives.
CCD is when a whole hive dies at once, and the scientists have not identified why this phenomena happens.
One thing they did, though, is feed pollen from unhealthy hives to healthy bees in another area. The bees became less able to resist a particular parasite, it was reported: Nosema ceranae.
Three times as likely to get infected by the parasite were those bees that ate the honey.
“There’s growing evidence that fungicides may be affecting the bees on their own and I think what it highlights is a need to reassess how we label these agricultural chemicals,” said Dennis van Engelsdorp, the study’s lead author.
How To Whiten Your Teeth in Just 5 Minutes
The answer: Baking soda (already something many people use as toothpaste — I’ve used it. My teeth never felt cleaner). It isn’t for everyone though as some people need to go to a cosmetic dentist San Diego to sort their teeth out.
Why? It’s a natural bleach for your teeth. How can you speed up the whitening effect? Add a cup of lemon juice to 1/4 cup of baking soda, reportedly. This may work for some, but just like anything, it may not for others. If you are not confident enough to try this out at home and you live in Australia, doing a quick search into something like Australian Dentists Clinic – Box Hill could help you find the answer you’ve been looking for. The same goes for wherever you live. Plus, leaving treatments like this to professionals at Dentist Turlock may just help you save a lot of time and stress.
Procedure:
Apply the mixture to your teeth. Let it stay there for around 3 minutes. Then wash your mouth out.
You can do this once per day.
This is an alternative to the dentist, where it costs a significant amount to do teeth whitening.
When you’re doing tooth whitening of any kind, there is something you should remember: acid can damage tooth enamel. Do some research first.
Whitening procedures can actually be dangerous.
In a YouTube video, the process is demonstrated by a user named Dajan248: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEV2_8PcChU
Former Marine Designs Backpack That Protects Hunters from Bears
A bear gets stumbled upon by a backpacker in the woods. And the backpacker is a little too close when they notice each other. And the backpacker is you.
Two options are suggested, and you have under 2 seconds to decide and act on one of them: play dead or run. Mostly, they suggest running until the bear catches you, then playing dead. But you also have to know when the bear is not going to stop because it thinks it has killed you, because it that case you have to fight. But you might also just opt to fight from the start (nose and eyes, right — not too much else you can hurt a bear with).
But now running might be a little better. A new invention by a former stuntman and Marine named Billy Lucas.
Its called a Bear Attack Pack. It’s not a backpack. It attaches to the back of a backpack; perhaps to something like a bag for hunting.
“I’ve seen bears in Yellowstone Park walking around but never had one run out on me when I was fishing, and it scared me to death,” Lucas said of his invention. “I started doing research on bear attacks and found out that most people, when they’re attacked by a bear, they do what you think a person would do. Immediate reaction was to get down and protect your vitals and get on your face on the ground. I started thinking, how can you deploy bear spray in a defensive position?”
How does it work in practice? You pull a ripcord (while you’re running away from the bear). A bunch of bearspray shoots out the back of your backpack. That much bearspray, you can expect you might get some of it in your own eyes.
The invention costs around $150 online.
I wonder if you could also use this device for rape/assault prevention for humans (who harm other humans a lot more often than bears do), although bear spray for this purpose was made illegal in some nations. I’m pretty sure its use to protect women and men in Canada is illegal.
This is What Happens To The Body When You Eat Pink Himalayan Salt
The Himalayas are a range that includes K2, the climbers climb, and Everest, the tallest peak on Earth, called the “roof of the world.”
The range is owned by Tibet (which has been ruled by China since China invaded in 1959), China, Nepal, Myanmar, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, and Bhutan.
They have a salt there called Himalayan salt on the market. It has a variety of hues, from red to pink to white. Where does the color come from? Minerals — it is rich in iron, notably.
The salt has 84 elements that are also found in the human body. Some of them: potassium, magnesium, calcium, sulfate and sodium chloride.
Himalayan salt can also be used to make gorgeous lamps and candle holders such as these Rock salt lights. Salt lamps produce a soft, diffused glow that is ideal for bedrooms, living rooms, and home offices.
So is it really that much better for people to have Himalayan salt than regular?
It adds to vascular health, supports healthy lungs, promotes a stable pH in cells, reduces aging signs, increases bone strength, lowers BP, helps with sleep, helps with circulation, detoxifies the body from heavy metals, regulates water in the body.
Like other natural salts, Himalayan salt does not need artificial iodine, because its already rich in that.
The other thing is that Himalayan salt are mineral packed crystals an have less sodium. They are composed of 85 percent sodium chloride and 15 percent other trace minerals.
Grape Seed Extract Outperforms Chemo in Killing Advanced Cancer Cells
Ok, this is some news about extract from grape seed. Some people say this is baloney and pseudoscience, some say their natural health practitioners use it. Want to weigh in? Does anyone have any evidence?
According to Buy Non GMO Seeds (a website), the extract is “showing amazing results.” They say it can target and even stop the most virulent cancer cells. “The more aggressive… the more potent” the seeds are as a treatment.
They cite a study published in Cancer Letters. The researcher was doctoral candidate Molly Derry.
She found that, “It required less than half the concentration of GSE to suppress cell growth and kill 50 percent of stage IV cells than it did to achieve similar results in the stage II cells. We’ve known for quite a while that the bioactive compounds in grape seed extract selectively target many types of cancer cells. This study shows that many of the same mutations that allow colorectal cancer cells to metastasize and survive traditional therapies make them especially sensitive to treatment with GSE.”
Any thoughts?
Rust-Proof Your Tools
You probably know that if you want your tools free from rust, don’t leave them in the wet or damp. You’ll probably want to leave them in a van if you want to avoid the dangers of rust. However, if you do this, you may want to have a look at something like constructaquote.com tool insurance so that you’re tools are always protected while they’re in your van. If you’re scaling up take a look at these industrial tools guides.
If you’ve ever left tools in a boat or neat the ocean, you’ll know just how rusty tools can get in a hurry.
Another way to keep them dry (besides keeping them out of the wet) is to put an anti-slip mesh liner in the bottom of wherever you keep your tools. It’ll keep the metal tools from touching the bottom of the box or drawer where water accumulates. Another thing you can do is put silica packets (like in mail packages and store-bought products) in with your tools. They emit a gas. That gas forms a protective layer on your tools.
Guess what the best material for a toolbox is when it comes to considerations of rust? Wood. It absorbs moisture.
So besides keeping them dry, how can you get your tools to stay un-rusted? The trick is to keep moisture out of metals pores, where chemical reactions take place.
Bath the tools in motor oil or WD-40 or PB Blaster. Work/rub off the substance.
Then there are three ways to remove rust naturally:
Vinegar: soak them for a few hours or a day, then rub them with aluminum foil (NOT sandpaper, which creates more pores for rust).
Lemon juice/lime juice. About the same, but maybe you think it smells better. Add some table salt and rub off gunk from tools.
Baking soda: Slower. Make a paste with water and baking soda and brush the tools until rust comes off.
If you’re unlucky enough to have a bunch of rusty tools, consider checking out the best rust converter to restore your tools back to their original glory.
