There are a handful of movies most truckers like because, for one reason, they have truckers in them. Whether small owner-operators up against the odds like in Over the Top or the trucker rodeo comedy franchise that is Smokey and the Bandit (and its sequal and three-qual).
Truck customizers and custom truck enthusiasts and owners have made a couple of Smokey truck tributes. Not just trucks either. They’ve remade the Trans Am and the police car. This one is Snowman’s Big Rig.
The custom replica semi is used by a group of people who use it to promote charities Jerry Reed was involved in, particularly including raising money for veterans and their families. (To find that and donate if you want to, click here. It’s called the “Wounded Warrior Project”).
This Smokey semi was completed by a lot of different people working on it. They started with a semi model in 2007, then an anonymous Bandit Runner member bought it and gave it to the team, and everyone worked on it from there. Can you tell the difference between this custom truck and the one in the film?
Obviously, this truck and the cars that were also featured in the famous series are main attractions at the annual Bandit Run, and they’re in the Smokey reenacting journey.
