18 Wheel House! Semi/Home Hybrid (UPDATED)

18 Wheel House

After posting our write up on this 18-wheel house, which is a combo of a semi tractor and a trailer house, a lot of people offered comments and information on the vehicle — a fairly unique vehicle I think you might be able to say.

First off, Curtis Carr it was who noted that this tractor is a Freightliner, not a Peterbilt, although quite a few people caught that error.

Some people wondered about the whole thing. Why do you need a sleeper cab on the tractor if you have a trailer that is a custom house-on-wheels already? Todd Scorzafava fielded this question: It’s for those who want to be able to tow their house somewhere and leave it there, but then drive somewhere for a weekend trip and sleep in the sleeper unit. It’s also if you need to relocate to another state, he also noted.

How can people make money hauling something like this? The answers from truckers seemed to be that this truck probably wasn’t going to be used to make money, and was more for those who already had some money and didn’t need to make more, or didn’t need to make their money with their RV motorhome.

One comment we’d like to know more about: Christos Mitskopoulos said he was surprised that Wayne Basaraba’s vehicle could be “beat.” Well guys, can we see a picture of the other vehicle?

And anybody else out there who has a big home on wheels that’s unique in some way, we’d like to see the pictures.
