Don’t ignore the warning signs of acidic body and learn what to do to alkalize your body.
What is being “too acidic” or “over acidic”?
It’s a way of referring to “acidosis” or “metabolic acidosis.”
Acidosis is an increased acidity in the blood and other body tissue (i.e. an increased hydrogen ion concentration). If not further qualified, it usually refers to acidity of the blood plasma. Acidosis is said to occur when arterial pH falls below 7.35 (except in the fetus), while its counterpart (alkalosis) occurs at a pH over 7.45. Arterial blood gas analysis and other tests are required to separate the main causes.
Metabolic alkalosis is a metabolic condition in which the pH of tissue is elevated beyond the normal range (7.35-7.45). This is the result of decreased hydrogen ion concentration, leading to increased bicarbonate, or alternatively a direct result of increased bicarbonate concentrations.
The common symptoms — most of these are symptoms of a lot of other things, too, and some are also symptoms of minor conditions that are nothing to worry about:
- Headaches
- Confusion
- Feeling tired
- Tremors,
- Sleepiness
- Flapping tremor
- Dysfunction of the cerebrum of the brain which may progress to coma if there is no intervention
How to test for acidosis:
A simple way involves a “litmus paper” which you can buy at a pharmacy or health food store (just call to check if they have some). You can use your urine (first urine of the day) or saliva (2 hours after last eating) on the paper to check.
How to correct acidosis:
Diet: Drink a good amount of water. you can eat certain foods, some of which are alkalic and some are acidic but have an alkalic effect on the body, like nuts, lemons, limes, and spirulina. Eat more fruits and vegetables in general. Eat less animal protein and sugar. Also, get more sleep if possible. There are a lot of guides that provide elaborate daily diet plans for acidosis, but they all boil down to eating more vegetables, fruit, lemon and lime (usually in water), and restricting meat and animal products (eggs and dairy and things), sweets (sugar is acidic), and wheat.
