The love for food and eating makes us nuts about everything that’s quick and simple. We all regularly hear about what is new in the food business, and many of us tend to believe the news, especially with regard to healthy new items in the supermarket. We seem to want to grab them without thinking of their actual nutritional worth, as long as we basically understand what the main ingredients are. The food items we recognize from tv and magazines and which are labeled as healthy and good for weight-loss, we want to buy even more. Here are 10 foods we think and believe as healthy ones, but may not be as healthy as we think. Check out your grocery list.
10. Vegetable Oil
– This is a type of oil which is semi solid and decreases dissolution. When this is heated and is used in cooking it’s certainly not beneficial
– Mostly used in fast food restaurants to cook French fries.
9. Pasta
-It’s made of white flour, water and eggs.
-It has no vitamins, minerals and no fiber.
-Most fast-food pasta has a lot of salt mixed with unsaturated fat.
8. White Bread
– This is the same as pasta; made of mostly flour and eggs.
– Eating too many carbohydrates can lead to slow digestion, so eat in moderation.
7. Soup Mix
– This can be a hazard to our body, as it contains a lot of sale. This in turn can cause hypertension and kidney disease.
– There are also additives and preservatives in the mix.
6. Ketchup
– Ketchup is low in lycopene, which is believed to be a prevention cancer (cooked tomatoes are much higher in lycopene)
– Tomato sauce contains a lot of sodium which causes hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases.
5. Diet Coke
– Conflicting studies have been made with diet coke because of the ingredients aspartame and artificial sweeteners.
– Some believe there are no calories in it. However, the artificial sweeteners are sugars, plus it contains acid that is not beneficial. With this in mind, consuming it as a beverage might not be a good habit.
4. Processed Cheese
– This contains whey, emulsifiers, milk, tons of salt, preservatives and artificial coloring.
– These emulsifiers, such as sodium and phosphate, can also be harmful to our health when too much is consumed.
3. Soy Sauce
– This has a high content of salt as the main preservative.
– Chemicals are also found which are actually toxins and endangers our health
2. Peanuts
– They have a lot of vitamins and minerals which are beneficial to our health.
– However, they also contain unsaturated fats, which are undesirable.
1. Fruit Juice
– Contains a lot of vitamin C and folic acid, which are beneficial to our body.
– Store bought juice contains a lot of preservatives and sugar. You might as well prepare your own juice by squeezing your own cultivated organic fruits.
So, now you’ve got an idea that some foods can be deceiving as to what is shown and labeled. Well, one way or another, their marketing strategies seem to really work. Overall, it’s best to be cautious and read the label carefully when choosing store bought food.
