This custom truck has been much debated online, it seems. Is it real? Is it not? Well, we looked into this picture to try to figure it out. Although there is no corroborating photo of the identical truck to be found (if you have one, readers, let us know), there are a lot of similar trucks out there. These end dump trucks are often capable of this kind of bucket tilt. We did find lots of photos of that (below).
It turns out there are two photos of orange-ish custom end dump tractors out there, but they aren’t the same model. You can compare them yourself, or even just check them out for looking’s sake — a couple of done up customs as work trucks.
While we’re on the subject of dump trucks, since we haven’t really looked much at custom dump trucks on here lately, you might find it interesting that dump trucks started out around 150 years ago. Western European early dump vehicles were steam powered, some of them, using tipper mechanisms.
In the U.S., commercial dump trucks started out in the early 1900’s with Fruehauf Trailer Corporation, Galion Buggy, and Lauth-Jeurgens.
For hydraulics, those followed not long after, and were put to use before (and in) World War I.
