This luxury yacht design — the Adastra Yacht — is an English offering by John Shuttleworth at Shuttleworth designs, a naval architecture company that’s been in business for over 35 years.
This is an iPad-controlled super yacht, reportedly, in addition to, I assume, conventional controls.
It’s called the Adastra, and the designer said of it,” 20 years ago, I knew we’d be able to do a boat like this sometime. I started sailing very young, and that was the first sort of real freedom. You’re off. I saw a boat that was being built and I thought ‘How does somebody design that? That’s amazing.’ And it went from there.”
This super yacht trimaran was launched in 2012 for Hong Kong clients.
Some notable yacht design features:
It is purported to be faster in open ocean waters due to the slender hulls and streamlined body.
And it’s lightweight: carbon fiber lights, toilet and other features made out of the lightweight yacht material help with speed.
For comfort, there are 3 cabins and as in the picture you can see a panoramic window for what might be a great in-cabin yachting experience.
