While you’re making a flower that can be used in a scrapbook or piece of clothing or a blanket, you’ll also be improving your crochet skill and keeping your hands busy.
The free pattern for these flowers was actually invented by a scrap-booker at Scrapbook&Cards. She used the flowers to make full page size mixed-media collages. Now thanks to her, you can learn to crochet these flowers for free.
What you’ll need to make this crochet project: 2.5mm crochet hook, #5 yarn (this picture has cotton perle yarn, but you’re advised to use a larger hook and heavier yarn the more of a beginner you are.
Stitches used:
Chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, loop (or “stitch”). You’ll also have to use a slip knot to start the flower and be able to fasten off at the end of a crochet.
Conceptual overview: You’ll tie around your needle and start to crochet around that knot, joining in a circular pattern until you have the wheel-like circle of the center. Then you’ll single and double crochet to add on petal by petal. After you’ve added 5 petals to the center wheel, you’ll fasten off and you’ll have a little flower in your hand.
